GrabDiff vs Better Stack
Last reviewed May 2026. Pricing from public sources; verify before buying.
Better Stack is a full observability platform: uptime monitoring, logs, traces, metrics, error tracking, session replay, on-call scheduling, status pages. It is a genuine competitor to PagerDuty plus Pingdom plus Sentry rolled into one. If that is what you need, it is good at it. If you just want to know when your page looks broken, it is also a lot to take on.
On the screenshot front: Better Stack does capture a screenshot when a monitor goes down, so you can see what the error looked like. What it does not do is schedule periodic screenshots and diff them against a baseline to catch visual regressions before (or independently of) an HTTP failure. That is GrabDiff's specific thing.

Where Better Stack wins
Better Stack is a much bigger product. If you need on-call schedules, log management, error tracking, Playwright scripted checks, and incident management all in one place, it does all of that well. Free tier gives 10 monitors and 10 heartbeats with 3-minute intervals, which is more generous than GrabDiff's 3. It also has multi-location checks, unlimited SMS and phone calls on paid plans, and a growing ecosystem of integrations.
Where GrabDiff wins
Proactive visual diffing. Better Stack takes a screenshot when your monitor triggers, which tells you what the page looked like when it went down. GrabDiff runs Chrome on a schedule, diffs every capture against a known-good baseline, and alerts you when the page changes beyond your threshold, even if the HTTP check says everything is fine. That catches a whole category of failures: silent JS crashes, half-broken deploys, empty dynamic content.
GrabDiff is also cheaper and simpler if all you want is visual uptime monitoring. Better Stack's paid plans are priced for teams with on-call rotations. GrabDiff is a single-purpose tool at $0 to $19.
Which to use
Better Stack if you need the whole observability stack and have a team to manage incidents. GrabDiff if your main question is "does my page look right right now" and you want something you can set up in two minutes without a PhD in incident management. The two are not mutually exclusive: GrabDiff for visual monitoring, Better Stack (or anything else) for logs and on-call.
